What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

It’s important to really know what your expectations are of the Pet Sitter/Dog Walker and communicate these expectations with the Pet Sitter/Dog Walker before anything is agreed upon. This is always helpful.. transparency is key for both parties

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

We would tell them to look to establish a friendship with whoever it is you will give your business too. Make sure that they are responsive to your phone calls and emails. There is nothing more frustrating than working with a Pet Sitter/Dog Walker that you can’t ever seem to reach. We realize this and work hard to ensure that you feel like our only customer. And while we realize that this is a business agreement we want to take stress and tension out of the equation and build a friendship throughout the process.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

Pet Taxi , Overnight Pet Care, Dog Walking and Pet Sitting . Service depends on the client’s requests.

What types of customers have you worked with?

All kinds of Pet Parents. Customers who work regularly and need visits for their pets during the day. Many who travel and require overnight care. Some who just like to have the company and others who work from home, but need the extra help of someone coming in and taking their pet/s out for a day of fun or to the vet/groomer. We also house sit for those who need the extra watch on their belongings and property to give them peace of mind while away.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

Truly Pawesome Pet Care Services was founded in 2013 by Claire. Over the years, Claire has looked after a wide variety of beloved pets, ranging from dogs and cats, hamsters, rabbits, fish and birds. Ever since childhood Claire has always had a strong passion for animals.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

Our company is fully Licensed, Insured and Bonded with Pet CPR Certified Staff and a member of PSI (Pet Sitters International). We are also Certified Professional Pet Sitter (CPPS)

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

Free Initial Consultation with signup*

Truly Pawesome offers FREE in person consultations if you schedule pet sitting service dates at the time of the consultation. If you don’t schedule a pet sitting service at the time of the consultation or cancel the service that you had scheduled, we charge a one time $25 consultation fee for the pre-service interview.

At the initial consultation we will have you fill out paperwork pertaining to your info, we meet you and your pets, gather all information relevant for the visits, a vet release form and our contract and discuss your needs and those of your pet. All prospective clients must provide two sets of house keys at the time of the initial consultation. One set of keys will remain with your pet’s caregiver and the other will be secured at our office. If keys are not provided at the initial consultation, a $10 administrative fee will apply to accommodate their retrieval at a later date.

Oops! We Forgot To Buy Litter, Food, Etc… Will You Pick It Up?

Our Pet Sitters and Dog Walkers will always do what’s needed for your pet’s health, safety, and wellness. Any additional necessary costs such as food, litter, cleaning supplies or other necessary items that contribute to the health and well-being of your pet will be purchased by your sitter and billed directly to your account. We will retain a receipt. A $35 trip fee will be applied.

What Do You Do In Bad Weather (Snow, Ice, Tornado, Etc.)?

If severe weather occurs, your Pet Sitter or Dog Walker will try to carry out your instructions to the best of their ability. Please understand that we will provide service, but not until conditions allow us to reach your home safely.

What If My Pet Has Fleas?

For the health of all the pets we Dog Walk or Pet Sit on a daily basis, we require all our fur-clients to be free of fleas, ticks, and other pests.

Will You Work With A Pet That Has A History Of Aggression?

No. We ask in your profile if your pet has a history of aggression and it’s very important that you are honest with us about this. Although we are experienced in pet care, our Dog Walkers and Pet Sitters are not trainers or behaviorists. If your pet(s) will not let your pet sitter into your home or prevents your pet sitter from providing routine duties your sitter will contact you for alternate arrangements. Additional charges may apply.

Do You Pick Up Dog’s Waste When Walking?

Yes, we do. We do ask that you provide the client bags.

Will You Clean Up Pet Accidents In Our Home?

Your Pet Sitter or Dog Walker is happy to properly dispose of pet waste and does their best to clean up any accidents your pet may have indoors with the appropriate cleaner that you leave us. We do request that you provide plastic bags, towels, cleaning products, paper towels, trash bags and indicate where you would like the waste to be disposed of.

Will You Pick Up Our Mail For Us?

YES! At no extra charge, (for our vacationing or traveling clients) we will bring your mail in, set your trash cans out on trash day, pull them back in, water any indoor/porch plants, rotate blinds, turn lights on/off, etc. Just make sure you let your Pet Sitter and Dog Walker know your expectations in your client profile and at your Meet and Greet visit.

Will You Text or Email Me Updates While I’m Away?

Yes! We offer to send all our clients complimentary daily pictures, videos and visit reports via text or email once per 24 hours before 9 p.m. You will also get an automated email every time we complete a visit for you. For instance, if we have three visits scheduled, after each visit you will receive an email letting you know that your visit was completed.

Do You Have A Minimum Visit Requirement?

Yes we do have requirements for all our Dog Walking and Pet Sitting Clients! Our visit minimums are veterinarian recommended and industry standard. All dogs must be visited no less than three times in a 24 hour period. All cats must be visited at least every other day. Cat visits once every 24 hours are veterinarian recommended.

Do You Assign the Same Sitter Every Time?

Our goal is that you have the same sitter each time but the beauty of our business model is that we have over 50+ Dog Walkers and Pet Sitters, qualified bonded, insured and background checked professional Dog Walkers and Pet Sitters that are experienced and waiting to help you out with your pets. If we need to send out a new sitter or a fill-in for backup then we give you the chance to meet them (unless it’s an emergency, in which case we jump right in and notify you immediately). It’s always free, too! Your Get Acquainted visit with the new sitter is also free.

Are Your Sitters Bonded, Insured & Background Checked?

Absolutely. All Truly Pawesome, LLC Dog Walkers and Pet Sitters are experienced, bonded, fully insured and background checked through us!

Can I Book Services Directly With My Sitter?

We have a non-solicitation policy with all our Pet Sitters and Dog Walkers. You can communicate with your Pet Sitter and Dog Walker either by phone or text during our business hours or on the weekends if they are caring for your pet(s) however all services must be booked either by our Mobile App, phone or email. Our Pet Sitters and Dog Walkers contract with Truly Pawesome, LLC. They are bound by legal contract to not take our clients on as their own and not do side work for Truly Pawesome, LLC clients.

Do You Have Any Surcharges?

A service fee per visit is applied to all Major and Minor to each visit for holidays including but not limited to: Thanksgiving Week (day before, day of and after Thanksgiving), Christmas Week (New Years Eve and Day), Memorial Day weekend, Fourth of July weekend, Labor Day and weekend. We also charge a convenience fee for visits requested at the last minutes.

Can I Request Last Minute Services?

We try hard to accommodate everyone’s requests. We do ask for 72 hours notice for additions to a daily/weekly client’s schedule and at least 1-week notice for vacation schedule requests. We cannot guarantee these last minute service requests can be filled, but we work hard to accommodate all requests. It helps if you are willing to be flexible with using more than one sitter. There will be a service surcharge per visit assessed for same-day visit requests and they are subject to sitter availability.

What Is Your Cancellation Policy?

Daily/Weekly Visit (services booked 1 or more day a week regularly)

A 24-hour advance notice is required for cancellations on all days in order to receive a full credit towards future services. Any cancellation made outside 24 hours will not be refunded or credited. If a cancellation has not been submitted and our sitters arrive at your home to provide care, your account will be charged the visit fee. Acts of God (weather, illness, etc) will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Vacation Travel Services – Non-Holidays – A seven (7) day advanced notice is required for cancellations on vacation visits in order for your deposit to be refunded.

Holidays – A 14-day advanced notice is required for holidays in order for your deposit to be refunded. Any cancellation made outside of 14 days will not be refunded or credited. Acts of God will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Early return does not constitute refund for services not used as sitters cannot be booked for other clients services

What If There Is A Medical Emergency With My Pet When I’m Gone?

Medical emergencies can and have happened. Please make sure your veterinary information is up to date in your profile. In the event of a medical emergency, your Pet Sitters and Dog Walkers will call you immediately while seeking emergency veterinary care. Should your specified veterinarian be unavailable, we will take your pet t0 a Animal Hospital nearby or to whatever animal hospital that you specify. Transportation fees may apply.

What Kind Of Animals Do You Care For?

Our Pet Sitters and Dog Walkers will take care of most domesticated animals, as long as they don’t pose a danger to our pet sitters. We do not care for any animals that have a history of biting, fighting or attacking other animals or people.

What Is Your Typical Visit Like?

It depends on what service you want. We can do whatever you want in the time that you contract us to be there. We offer 15, 30, 45 and 60-minute visits. Our pet sitting and dog walking visits can include: Feeding per your instructions, fresh water, clean bowls, dogs walked (always private dog walks…never pack walks), love and playtime, brushing, quick potty breaks and overnights, litter box, bird cage (etc.) cleaned, mail and newspaper brought in, plants watered, lights on and off. And of course, lots of TLC.

What Are Your Service and Business Hours?

Visit Times: Our earliest visit time is at 9:00 AM and our latest visit time is at 9:00 PM. All of our scheduled visits are scheduled in time blocks for Morning (9:00 am to 11:30 am), Mid-Day (12:00 pm to 3:00 pm), Late Afternoon (3:30 pm to 5:00 pm), and Evening (5:30 pm to 9:00 pm). Although we will make every reasonable effort to arrive during the time block that is requested, the nature of our business sometimes requires us to perform extra duties that were not anticipated and may cause our schedules to be adjusted. But never fear, we will be there to care for your pets. Smaller dogs or animals on medication do try to get to 1st in the AM, so depending on your sitter’s schedule, your visit time may be adjusted accordingly. Please note that parts of this paragraph may not pertain to regular midday dog walking services. 

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

Our pricing depends on location and number of pets. There is a one time fee of $25 to process all paperwork for new clients. We do charge extra for certain services such as yard waste pick-up, special meals cooked, medication given and last minute bookings. There is an extra fee for all major and minor Holidays.
